Former Silver Ferns star Jenny May has landed an exciting new role, after a whirlwind of a year that also saw her give birth to twins.

The 42-year-old, who became a household name for her sporting prowess as well as her warm presenting persona, has been appointed as the Northern Mystics’ performance specialist coach for next year.

Jenny May has long been associated with the Mystics, who she was assistant coach for in 2011 and 2016.

The mum of two will link up with new coach Helene Wilson for next year’s ANZ Premiership, who she also worked with previously at the head of the Northern Zone’s under-23 team.

Jenny May welcomed her first children with husband Dean back in March, introducing the tiny tots exclusively to New Zealand Woman’s Weekly in the weeks after.

From their South Auckland home, Jenny May and Dean introduced Atawhai and Te Manahau, their twin baby sons they never expected to be blessed with.

In July, after only a few week’s maternity leave, Jenny May returned to One News screens, and was back to helping out with coaching the Mystics.

The popular presenter stepped down from her role just one month before her due date, when she had to wear jandals on air.

“I made this call, that the day I had to wear jandals on air, was the day I was going to stand down,” she said.
