Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery is married

The great and the good turned out for Michelle's special day.

It could have been a storyline straight from her beloved Downton Abbey, and tears of joy were cried when star Michelle Dockery finally got her happy ever after marrying Jasper Waller-Bridge on

a beautiful autumnal London day, seven years after the tragic death of her late fiance John Dineen.

The much-loved star of Julian Fellowes’ iconic British show, 41, couldn’t stop smiling as she tied the knot at St Nicholas Church in leafy west London.

The reception was held at Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham.

Wearing a stunning white satin dress with a square neckline and a dropped waist designed by Emilia Wickstead, Michelle said her vows in front of friends, family and a slew of her famous Downton co-stars, clasping the hand of her handsome husband as they emerged from the church to cheers and falling confetti.

Fleabag star and sister of the groom Phoebe and her partner Martin were there to wish them well.

The celebrity guests were led by Jasper’s famous sister, Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 38, who donned a coral three-piece suit and wide-brimmed boater hat and flashed a sparkling diamond ring as she walked arm in arm with her playwright partner Martin McDonagh, 53.

Michelle’s former fiance John tragically died of a rare form of cancer.

It was a Crawley clan reunion as Lily James, Joanne Froggatt, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter and his wife Imelda Staunton turned out to celebrate the happy union, while fellow acting royalty James Norton and Leslie Manville were among the guests.

Crawley clan unites! Hugh and Jim shared a laugh.

Laura Carmichael, who played Michelle’s onscreen sister Lady Edith Crawley, was one of many bridesmaids dressed in sea green and was seen carefully carrying her friend’s train so it didn’t touch the floor.

The sun was shining as the couple emerged from the church.

It’s believed Michelle and Jasper, 35, met through his sister in 2019, a few years after her former fiance tragically lost his battle with cancer. In 2017, Michelle likened her loss to that of her character in Downton, Lady Mary, “We were engaged, and married at heart, and so I do consider myself a widow.”
