They’ve put on a smile for the public, but it looks like the facade is starting to crumble for Rita Ora and Calvin Harris.
On August 12, Rita confirmed on On Air with Ryan Seacrest that Calvin was the reason her planned performance at the Teen Choice Awards didn’t go ahead.
The DJ and music producer worked with Rita on several songs for her upcoming album, so he had creative rights over the material – including the hit single ‘I Will Never Let You Down’.
“For anybody who doesn’t understand how it works, he wrote and produced the song. So he has to approve anything TV-wise for anybody who doesn’t get it,” Rita said.
“And obviously he owns the rights to it and he didn’t approve the Teen Choice Awards.”
Rita went on to say she wished she had been given a little more notice, but ultimately she harboured no hard feelings about the incident.
“It is what it is, man. You know, you write a song with somebody, and I guess there’s some stuff that comes with it,” she said.
However, Calvin wasn’t very impressed with her comments and promptly took to Twitter to set the record straight.
“You’ll only know 1 side of the story RE Teen choice awards because I choose not to talk to the papers about every aspect of my personal life,” he wrote.
“But just know I had a damn good reason.”
Seems like things between the exes are frostier than we thought!
