New Zealand born singing duo Caleb and Georgia Knott – also known as Broods – have won Best New Zealand Act at the 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards.

“Thank you so much lovely people for voting for us to be Best New Zealand Act this year at the MTV EMAs,” the duo tweeted after their big win.

Originally from Nelson, the siblings have blazed their way to glory with their electro-pop sound, and are scheduled to support Swedish singer Tove Lo during her upcoming European tour in March.

Previous Kiwi winners of the award include hip-hop export Savage and songstress, Lorde.

Fellow singer Justin Bieber was the night’s biggest winner at the MTV EMAs in Rotterdam, taking home three awards.

Justin, who was nominated in five categories, won for Biggest Fans, Best Canadian Act, and Best Song for ‘Sorry’.

The 2016 MTV EMAs will encore at 5.45pm today on MTV, Sky Channel 015.
