Brad Pitt is reportedly being investigated over claims he got “verbally and physically abusive with his children” on a private jet the day before Angelina Jolie filed for divorce.
It is being reported that Pitt got into an argument with son Maddox, 15, while flying between France and the US.
A statement from the FBI said: ‘In response to your inquiry regarding allegations within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States; specifically, an aircraft carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI is continuing to gather facts and will evaluate whether an investigation at the federal level will be pursued.’
There are reports an anonymous call came from someone on the plane as it headed towards Los Angeles, which led to members of DCFS meeting the family on the tarmac and questioning them on the scene.
TMZ reports that the incident is what lead to the marriage split.
The gossip outlet claims that Brad got “verbally and physically abusive with his children” after “getting wasted” on a private jet.
“He allegedly went wild, screaming and getting physical with the kids,” the report reads.
“We’re told the plane landed at an airport around 8 PM, and witnesses say Pitt continued his rant on the tarmac, and even tried leaving in one of the fuel trucks.”
While the LA Police Department have denied they are investigating any claims against the actor, sources say because the incident happened on an international flight, it is the FBI that is running the case.
On Thursday morning, a police car was reportedly seen arriving at the Jolie-Pitt compound in the Hollywood Hills, were Pitt is believed to be staying while Jolie and the children are at a Malibu rental home.
TMZ also says they have spoken to a source close to Brad, who claimed people are deliberately trying to “paint him in the worst possible light.”
“He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children,” they are quoted as saying.
It was confirmed early this week that Angelina was filing for divorce from Brad after 12 years together and two years of marriage, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason.
Yesterday, actress Marion Cotillard was forced to deny any involvement in the split](http://www.womensweekly.co.nz/latest/celebrity/marion-cotillard-breaks-silence-on-alleged-affair-with-brad-pitt-20632), following allegations that Angelina’s private investigator uncovered an affair between the Allied co-stars.
Both Brad and Angelina have asked for privacy for the sake of their children.
