Beloved broadcaster Aziz Al Sa’afin has landed one of TVNZ’s most coveted news roles and will soon move to Sydney to start as Australian correspondent for 1 News, taking over from Andrew Macfarlane.
“There are moments in life when you feel everything you have done has led you to that very moment and that is precisely how I feel right now,” a delighted Aziz tells Woman’s Day.
Since starting in showbiz on Sticky TV, the proud LBGT+ ambassador worked as a journalist for The Paul Henry Show, The Project and The AM Show, before joining 1 News last year.
Of his new overseas gig, he admits, “I’m equal parts excited and s**t-scared, but with the blessings of my mum and [partner] Jake, I’m ready for the challenge!”
