Fans have been given their first glimpse of Angelina Jolie in her role as legendary diva Maria Callas. The biopic, telling the “tumultuous” story of Maria, is being shot in Paris, Greece, Budapest and Milan, with Angelina wearing a number of original garments worn by the opera star.
“I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria’s life and legacy,” says Angelina, 48, of the famously temperamental soprano, who died in 1977, aged 53. Two new photographs from the set show Angelina wearing a pair of Maria-esque glasses and a wide-brimmed lace hat.
Ange is using Maria to get her career back on track.
The role is a special one for Angelina, who says in the past few years she’s taken fewer movie roles. The mum-of-six shares she’s “in transition as a person” and that, “I feel a bit down these days.
I don’t feel like I’ve been myself for a decade.”
