Much of New Zealand has experienced wet, wild weather as Cyclone Cook worked its way down the country in the past 24 hours.
While many areas have escaped the levels of damage many experts feared, Kiwis haven’t emerged completely unscathed.
Christchurch has experienced heavy rain and flooding on Friday morning, while more than 16,000 homes in Hawke’s Bay and the Gisborne area are without power.
More than 100 people sheltered overnight in Whakatane evacuation centre and the Bay of Plenty remains under a state of emergency.
