Tom Cruise has convinced his fiancée, Katie Holmes, to drop the girlish name “Katie” in favour of the more mature “Kate”. Now that the 27-year-old has given birth, the pair decided she should be known as Kate instead. Tom comments, “Katie is a young girl’s name. Her name is Kate now she’s a child-bearing woman.” Since meeting Tom, Kate has also changed her religion. When she began her relationship with the `oission: Impossible’ star, she converted from Catholicism to Scientology. Kate intends to raise her newborn daughter, Suri, according to the controversial religion. [28 April 2006]
