Tennis champion Jennifer Capriati has been hospitalised after overdosing on prescription drugs. A spokeswoman for star says she is “recovering fully”, although she didn’t reveal what medication Jen had taken, nor who had found her.
“In response to an outpouring of concern and support shown by Jennifer’s fans and friends worldwide, we would like to acknowledge that Jen is recuperating at a South Florida hospital from an accidental overdose of medication prescribed to Jen by her personal physician,” the rep tells.
Jen (34) has a long history with drugs and personal problems. A professional since the age of 13, she made the French open semi-finals just a year later in 1990. After winning a gold medal at the Barcelona olympics at 16, Jen ended up in drug rehab twice before staging a comeback in 2001, winning back-to-back Australian open titles and the French open.
The sporting hero hasn’t played professionally since 2004, when an injury forced her to withdraw from competition, and her last public appearance was in 2009 reality TV show ‘The Superstars’, which she also had to quit due to injury.
We wish Jen a speedy recovery.
