The Sugababes are in strife yet again! Less than a month after losing their last remaining original member, the UK girl group has announced that singer Amelle Berrabah will be taking a break from the band due to “severe nervous exhaustion”.
A family member says the 25-year-old is “in a very bad way”, adding, “She has been suffering from depression for months but recent events led to her breakdown. It was very scary. Amelle hasn’t been eating or sleeping and was very weak. She refused to leave the house for weeks as she thinks the whole world is against her.”
The Sugababes’ official website maintains the group, which is now trying to crack the lucrative US market, has not split up and Amelle is simply taking a three-week break at a private health clinic in Europe. Her bandmate Heidi Range adds, “Amelle and I have been through a very traumatic time together in recent months and particularly over the past few weeks… It seems like it’s now all caught up with her.”
original member Keisha Buchanan was ousted from the Sugababes last month amid rumours of bullying and catfights. She was immediately replaced by Eurovision singer Jade Ewen.
