Snow White and the Huntsman

With some magnificent visual effects, Snow White and the Huntsman is one of the most beautiful films on screen this year. However, much like the classic Grimm brothers’ fairytale’s wicked witch, this is a film that has stared a little too long at its own reflection, to its own peril.

Slow and meandering at times, the two title characters Snow White (a gormless yet pretty Kristen Stewart) and the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) both flounder with their scraps of dialogue. Thankfully Charlize Theron is well and truly the “fairest of them”, adding new darkness to the character of Snow White’s evil stepmother that’s definitely worth a watch.
