What a difference a year makes! Twelve months after her violent bust-up with Chris Brown, R&B princess Rihanna got an altogether pleasant surprise for her 22nd birthday – a huge party organised by her new beau, LA Dodgers baseball star Matt Kemp.

The athlete surprised the ‘Rude Boy’ singer with a huge fiesta for 40 friends, with flowers, cupcakes, a Jamaican chef and, of course, plenty of champagne. Matt even brought out a cake decorated with Rihanna’s various tattoos while everyone sang ‘Happy Birthday’.

A party-goer reports, “It was so sweet and she was really surprised. She looked just beautiful.” The surprises didn’t end with the party, however. Matt also spoilt Rihanna with a custom-made diamond necklace.

The couple, who have kept their budding relationship on the down low, spent Rihanna’s entire birthday weekend together. Friends say the ‘Umbrella’ singer has never been happier and, with a surprise party and present like that, who could blame her?!
