The 36-year-old Walk The Line Oscar winner received the Renaissance award from The Gene Siskel Film Centre in Chicago over the weekend. Her Election director, Alexander Payne, presented her with the award.
A spokesperson from the Gene Siskel Film Centre said, “Reese Witherspoon is truly a renaissance woman, demonstrated by her wide range of memorable roles in such varied films as Pleasantville, Cruel Intentions, Election, and the Legally Blonde films.
“Her extraordinary performance as June Carter Cash in Walk The Line earned her the 2006 Academy Aware for Best Actress, a BAFTA, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, New York Film Critics Award, Broadcast Film Critics Award, People’s Choice Award in addition to 11 other honours.”
The Renaissance award has been previously won by actors such as Robert Downing Jr and Jamie Foxx.
Reese is expecting her first child to husband Jim Toth later this year. She already has two children, Ava Elizabeth Phillippe (12) and Deacon Reese Phillippe (8), to ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.
