Victoria Beckham is hesitant to take up Tom Cruise’s offer to join his Scientology sect – because she thinks it’s a waste of money. Her footballer husband, David, admits he has relied on Tom’s advice in recent weeks. A source reveals, “Tom spoke to David for hours about Scientology. But Victoria is having none of it. She can’t see the point of joining something like that where you have to donate money.” Posh is also rumoured to be interested in a $30,000-a-year Catholic School in an upmarket area of Los Angeles for her three boys, which could possibly thwart Tom’s plans for conversion. The former Spice Girl has also scored a $15million deal producing top-notch accessories (shoes and handbags) to be sold in exclusive boutiques across America. Victoria, who is already raking in millions from her best-selling range of denims and sunglasses, celebrated the new deal by taking her good friend Katie Holmes for dinner at top Los Angeles dining spot The Ivy. An insider says, “Katie was so thrilled for Victoria. The move to LA may seem like it’s all about David’s career but she isn’t resting on her laurels. Her fashion projects were going great guns in Europe. And to have landed such a major US deal before she and her family have even moved there is amazing.” [23 January 2007]
