Blonde beauty Portia de Rossi has spoken for the first time about the day she met Ellen DeGeneres. The former ‘Ally ocBeal’ actress (36) says she was too nervous to make a move when Cupid struck and took almost a year to approach her future wife (41).
Portia tells, “I just walked over to say hello to her and I couldn’t believe it – she turned around and it was like an arrow was shot through my heart. I was weak at the knees. But then it took me about 10 months to get the courage up to do something about it.”
The couple married in 2008 but Portia admits it was public scrutiny that kept her in the closet. She says, “I was on ‘Ally ocBeal’ at the time and I was not living as an openly gay person. I was closeted and very, very afraid that if I talked about being gay it would be the end of my career. So I wasn’t about to then date the most famous lesbian in the world.”
