Mariah Carey made an embarrassing faux pax during a recent visit to a French restaurant. The singer told the waiter a French phrase she believed to mean, “That meal was wonderful, I’ll have to come here again.” However Mariah did not realise that her `helpful’ French-speaking dinner companion had tricked her into saying, “That meal was so thrilling, I’ve just wet myself.” An eyewitness says, “She couldn’t understand why the waiters looked so shocked whenever she spoke to them.” Meanwhile, Mariah claims she knew she was destined to become a star from a young age. ”Believe me, diva is not a new term for me,” she says. ”I was a total glamour queen as a little girl. I have pictures of myself as a six-year-old lying on the beach posing in a bikini. The funniest thing is that I signed one of the photos like I was already a celebrity.” [19 December 2005]
