Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson claims she is more proud of shedding 36kg than winning the Best Supporting Actress oscar in 2007.
After dropping five dress sizes, the 29-year-old admits she’s so overjoyed with her transformation that she values it more than her award for Dreamgirls in 2007.
She said, “I’m prouder of my weight-loss than my oscar!”
Jennifer, who shot to fame after appearing on American Idol in 2004, was inspired to lose weight during her pregnancy with son David (now two).
“I thought, hold on – why doesn’t anybody know I’m pregnant? I wanted to set a good example for my son.”
The star – who’s engaged to WWE wrestler David otunga – claims she wasn’t aware she was overweight until she moved to Hollywood.
“I thought I was the perfect size! Then an interviewer asked, ‘How does it feel to be plus-sized in Hollywood?’ I looked around, like, ‘Who is she talking to? oh, me?’ In the neighbourhood I’m from in Chicago, size 16 is normal. But in Hollywood, everyone looks exactly the same, so I stood out.”
