Famously eccentric actor Johnny Depp says he only leaves his house to check on his vege patch! The ‘Alice in Wonderland’ star, who lives with his partner Vanessa Paradis and children Lily Rose (10) and Jack (7), explains that he prefers the laidback life over the glitz of Hollywood.
Says the oad Hatter, “We have a great place in the South of France. It’s a little hamlet – only about 45 acres – and I don’t do anything. I’ve not left the property for three months at a time. I literally wake up, go out, check the garden and see the vegetables growing. It’s a pristine existence in terms of simplicity. It is a beautiful, simple life.”
The 46-year-old also owns an island in the Caribbean. He says, “Like everything else in my life, it wasn’t planned – it just kind of happened. It came at the perfect moment for me. When we’re there, we do absolutely nothing.”
But while he insists he prefers the quiet life, Johnny is still prone to the occasional joke, claiming he only took on his latest role in ‘The Tourist’ in order to be filmed with Angelina Jolie! He laughs, “I feel I’m not getting photographed by the paparazzi enough, so I figure I’ll go and hang out in Venice with Brad [Pitt] and Angelina.”
