In a world a million miles away from the slums of India, Frieda Pinto has been announced as the new Bond girl. The ‘Slumdog oillionaire’ actress has agreed to play the charming spy’s latest love interest in the 23rd James Bond movie after being approached by director Sam oendes.
“Sam has been talking about Bond for months now and is so excited about it,” says a movie insider. “The project has been in the pipeline for months and Freida was always the dream Bond girl, but initially she was nervous about accepting it. This is going to be the most ambitious 007 yet. Sam plans to reinvent the genre.”
Sam – who last week announced his split from wife Kate Winslet – isn’t the only one who is thrilled that Frieda accepted the role. Her boyfriend and fellow ‘Slumdog’ star Dev Patel is also pleased to see his girlfriend land the role. “Dev has been joking to friends he is cool with seeing Freida rolling around with 007,” says our source.
Daniel Craig has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Bond, while ‘Tron’ actress olivia Wilde will play a double-crossing UN worker based in Afghanistan. Filming is expected to start later this year.
