A representative for Sir Sean Connery has strongly denied reports that the James Bond star is suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia after his best friend Sir Michael Caine was quoted in a German newspaper saying the actor “no longer in control of his senses”.
In an interview with Bild am sonntag, Europe’s biggest selling Sunday newspaper, Michael (80) said that Sean’s memory loss was “noticeable” and was also quoted as saying he had “serious concerns for him”.A spokeswoman for Sean (83), whose last film project was 2003’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, denied the claims and said Michael, who has been friends with Sean since working together on the 1975 epic The Man Who Would Be King, had been misquoted.
“This [article] is truly silly and nonsense. I do not wish to give credence to this ridiculous story,” the spokeswoman said. “The same article also has Sean living in Spain where you all know he does not live.”
