Daljinder Kaur, who says she is over 70, gave birth to a healthy baby boy using donor eggs – after two years of IVF treatment.

Her and husband Mohinder Singh Gill have been married for 46 years, but had not managed to conceive during the course of their relationship.

In their culture, infertility can be seen as a curse from God, and so the couple set about trying to fall pregnant.

They invested in treatment at a fertility clinic in Haryana, northern India, after coming into some money a few years ago.

And after successful treatment Baby Arman was born, weighing in at 4.4lbs. This makes Daljinder one of the world’s oldest mothers – with doctors estimating she could be as old as 72.

She told French Press that her life “feels complete now” and that she’s “full of energy” since giving birth.

The owner of the fertility centre, Anurag Bishnoi, said he was initially reluctant to help the couple due to their age, and the fact that Daljinder looked frail. However after conducting tests, he found that she was healthy and the risk to her health getting pregnant was no higher than in a middle aged person.

Anurag recognised many would be critical of the couple’s decision to conceive so late on, but insisted they were very happy and had plenty of relatives who could take care of him once they pass away.
