A note telling parents to pay attention to their children, not their phones has gone viral this week, after it was erected at a nursery in Texas.

“You are picking up your child. GET OFF YOUR PHONE!,” the note reads.

“Your child is happy to see you! Are you happy to see your child??

We have seen children trying to hand their parents their work they completed and the parent is on the phone.

We have heard a child say, “Mommy, mommy, mommy…” and the parent is paying more attention to their phone than their own child.

It is appalling.

Get off your phone!!”

The note was originally posted to the door of Rose Hill day care centre by a member of staff, but after mother-of-three Juliana Farris Mazurkewicz shared an image of it on Facebook – the post went worldwide.

The image has been shared over a million times, and received comments from both sides of the fence.

Some parents hit back, saying that mums are busy and could well be doing something important on their phones at that moment.

“Sometimes people have a reason to be on the phone. It’s very easy to say “get off the phone”, but parents have a lot of responsibilities,” commented one user.

Others agreed with the angry letter, stating that the child should be the first priority.

“This is SO PERFECT” wrote one parent.

“Amen! We have but a small window of time to be with our young children. Life is not about you. You will never remember the phone conversation, but your child will know by your actions if they are a priority or not. Wake up! Refocus your attention toward what really matters,” another agreed.
