From January 23 to February 17, parents and grandparents around the country uploaded photos to Women’s Weekly showing off their child’s best smile.
Thank you to everyone who entered! The smiles were adorable and competition was tough, with more than 1200 entries. After the public had voted in their top five, it was up to Colgate and the Weekly team to choose the overall winner.
Four year old James was the standout entrant and he and his mother Nicola were flown to the Weekly photo studio in Auckland for their competition-winning photoshoot. James was very excited about going to Disneyland and his chance to visit “Mickey’s house!”
The Colgate Little Smiles competition is part of a Colgate initiative with the support of the New Zealand Dental Association and Plunket to create awareness around the problem of early childhood tooth cavities. Since 2007, Colgate has given toothbrushes and toothpastes to Plunket babies. Plunket nurses and parents are also provided with educational resources on how to care for growing teeth.
And now, thanks to the sponsors behind Colgate Little Smiles, James and his family will be off on a trip for four to Disneyland that includes flights, accommodation and spending money. Now that’s something to smile about!
