A new app that takes its cues from popular dating service Tinder has been launched to help people in big offices find a colleague to eat lunch with. It’s called Never Eat Alone and people list their interests on their profile, so they can set up lunch with like-minded colleagues.
Whether or not this idea takes off, it’s hard to deny that technology brings people together who may never naturally connect. Eligible singles no longer have to nurse a lonely drink in a bar, or endure well-intentioned blind dates set up by friends thanks to Tinder.
Skype ensures the bonds of friendship stay strong when school pals take off on their OEs; websites like Neighbourly take the place of phone trees to share information about local opportunities, or warn of a spate of burglaries.
