A photo of me and my little Lucas, taken on a trip to Western Australia. Sent in by Julie, Carterton.

cuddly-magic-moments-476

This is one of my favourite moments ever… On the beach in Australia during a nice morning stroll my boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed with a ring he had sneakily been carrying in his pocket for a while, waiting for the perfect moment. Wanting to secure the moment on film forever I tried many attempts to take a picture myself that I would be proud of forever and this was the result. Someone eventually came to our rescue and took some lovely snaps but this is my favourite because at that moment, it was just the two of us enjoying such a special cuddly moment… and I was the star and the photographer. Sent in by Claire, Wellington.

Here is a picture of my husband having a much-needed cuddle with our four-week-old daughter Scarlet after a hard day at work. She was born four weeks early, and has spent two of the last four weeks in hospital. Having a nearly three-year-old means Dad hasn’t spent much time with Scarlet. Priceless. Sent in by Debi, Wellington.

cuddly-magic-moments-464

I was going through a low point, struggling with PND, when my wonderful friend turned up. She did my hair and makeup and started to take some photos of me (she was trying to remind me of how other people saw me) when my two-year-old woke up. He just came over and snuggled in. Vinny took this beautiful picture of us. It is my magic moment because every time I look at it, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to have an amazing family and great friends. Sent in by Kim, Auckland.

cuddly-magic-moments-463

I knew I absolutely had to enter our Jet (5)’s magic picture he drew while on holiday at his grandparents’ in Gisborne recently. He spent three days drawing this picture on a large whiteboard and filled every space with love hearts and words such as, I love my mum and dad, Cuba (brother) and even Coco (dog). We think it is truly magic that our usually very tough little boy made such an effort to let us know how much he missed and loved us. Sent in by the The Te Aho Family.

This rare opportunity to cuddle our premature babies skin to skin without the CPAP breathing tubes that normally covered their precious faces was amazing. But this was extra special as it was the first time I was able to get them both out and cuddle them like this together, and they reached out to each other and held hands! After weeks of being separated in incubators they still had a special connection. Sent in by Kim, Wellington.

I took this photo of my newborn twins (a girl and a boy) a couple of weeks ago and thought that you might enjoy it. I think you can guess which one my little girl is! The picture speaks for itself but there is a second reason that it is so magic – I conceived them naturally last year after recovering from breast cancer which I was diagnosed with at 36 – so they really are my little magic miracle babies! Sent in by Nicki, Wellington.

So many magic moments recorded, but this one always brings me the biggest smiles and warms my heart. This is my now-fiance Andrew with our wee Jayana (now five). We had just returned home from a day of shopping, they were both really tired and fell asleep. I happened to notice that they were identical in the way they were sleeping so I snapped the photo. It was definitely a magic moment for me and it’s the only photo of them that I have sleeping like this…. She is every bit her father and this moment most certainly confirms that. This is when we finally got to all go home and, of course, they are wrapped up in sheets that were washed in Cuddly. I love the soft baby smell of Cuddly, and I love the way my baby’s clothes smell. Now one year on from the photo he is a big boy, but I still love this photo. Sent in by Rachel, Auckland.

This is my favourite magic moment of my husband Phil and our daughter Zoe – at 10 days old she already had him wrapped around her little finger. She burst into the world on her due date, about two hours after I woke up in the morning and 11 minutes after we arrived at the hospital. She arrived bum first (naturally) and weighed a tiny 2kg. cuddly-magic-moments-377

This is one of many magic moments that we have as a family. This was our first trip to the snow with the kids. All week our daughter had been talking about making a snow queen (not a snowman), so we went through all her jewellery and packed up some stuff to put on the snow queen (not forgetting, of course, the carrot for the nose). Daddy helped to build the snow queen and she decorated it. She was so proud that our normally shy daughter went up to complete strangers and asked them to look at the snow queen she had made. It was a lovely family day at the snow. Sent in by Tania, Morrinsville.

cuddly-magic-moments-367

This is a photo of our youngest daughter Ysabella. This photo is a magic moment because Bella is so at peace with the world here. She has multiple medical problems and as a result we don’t often get to see her relaxed. The few exceptions are in water (swimming or bathing) and on a swing! Her favourite place in the world is the beach. I think the sand and the gentle swishing of the waves helps her relax! Sent in by Rebekah, Hamilton.

This was one of the happiest days of my life and I felt so honoured to have my dad give me away. Sent in by Karen, Auckland.

cuddly-magic-moments-364

This is a photo taken on the day our youngest child, Charlie, was brought home from the hospital – the same day our three other children met him. When I was 28 weeks pregnant, I became ill with the H1N1 virus, leading to double pneumonia. At 29 weeks, I was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit of Dunedin Hospital and put into an induced coma. Two weeks later, I awoke to find I wasn’t pregnant anymore! Baby Charlie had been born via emergency C-section at 30 weeks. He then spent 8 more weeks in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit with no family, except my husband and I, allowed to see him. We brought Charlie home with holes in his heart and a PDA valve that hadn’t closed, but he’s done wonderfully – the holes closed by themselves and the PDA was closed at Starship just after his first birthday. I love this photo as it’s the first with all the children together. Sent in by Alida, Dunedin.

A day trip to Goat Island near Leigh. We encountered this very friendly donkey just off the car park. The moment was so special as we interacted with the donkey for quite some time. He seemed to take a real interest. We took great delight in feeding him and patting him. Suffice to say, we have a whole catalogue of photos featuring our new best friend. An animal experience that was an unplanned surprise and the highlight of the day with fond memories ever since! Sent in by Kent, Auckland.

Amidst the chaos of the Christmas season, my magic moment comes when the family gets together to share not only gifts, but love. Cuddles and kisses from the kids, these are the best gifts my hubby and I get every Christmas – and everyday! Sent in by Armi, Wellington.

The photo is of me with my twins. It was taken at the start of our second week at home following a gruelling three weeks in the Special Care baby Unit at the hospital. I love this “skin on skin” photo as it just reminds me of how much overwhelming love I felt for them when we shared our cuddles. My twins are called Anya and Heidi, and are now a healthy 16 months old. Sent in by Carys, Hawke’s Bay.

This is a photo of our daughter Carys with her three best friends (our dogs) Fynn, Mollie and Ellie – snuggled up in her pajamas ready for bed, but all up at the window waiting for Dad to come home from work. Sent in by Sarah, Auckland.

My magic moment was the first time I got to hold my baby boy Lincoln. At 32 weeks, I had a scan that showed he was a very little baby, but no-one could tell me why. From there, my pregnancy changed and I was in for appointments three times a week at the hospital to monitor his heartbeat and scans to make sure everything was okay. He was born at 38 weeks with the cord wrapped tightly around his neck. After removing the cord, manual CPR, oxygen and other checks, I was finally able to hold him. He’s my little miracle. After a fall in my fifth month of pregnancy, eight weeks ago my daughter Eva (22 months) finally meets her little brother Frank for the first time. I think her face says it all, “Wow, I finally understand what Mum has been on about for the last eight months!” Thankfully, our little man is perfect and the family is complete. New puppy love – The girls enjoy a snuggle before bed with Bella, our 9-week-old puppy. Katie and Paige are princess mad and chose the name Bella for their new puppy because it’s a mix of Belle and Cinderella. Sent in by Kylie, Tauranga.
