US couple Som Lisaius and his wife Krystin both pleaded guilty on counts of drug and child-abuse charges following the May 15 incident in which the couple brought their daughter to Oro Valley Hospital.

Tuscon Weekly reports the baby wouldn’t wake up and her eyes rolled back into her head.

The baby tested positive for cocaine, as did Som, who at the time was a reporter at KOLD News 13, and the couple admitted to using the drug the night before.

Krsytin – who worked at KGUN Channel 9 two years ago as a reporter – told police she breastfed her baby, who was born in December, the next morning but did not think she would be affected 12 hours after she used cocaine.

Detectives later found 1.8 grams of cocaine in a desk drawer at their home, as well as white residue on a Safeway Club Card in Krystin’s name and a rolled-up dollar bill inside a Tiffany jewellery box.

Police have said the baby is expected to recover completely.

The couple’s attorney, Michael Piccarreta, said the little girl was placed in the care of her maternal grandmother when she was released from hospital.

Krystin is allowed 24-hour contact with her child in her mother’s house, and Som is allowed to see the baby for 12 hours a day.

Their next court hearing is set for July 28.
