Reeva Steenkamp’s family has expressed horror and concern after learning that convicted killer Oscar Pistorius is reportedly dating again.
And disturbingly, the former Olympic and Paralympic athlete’s new girlfriend Rita Greyling looks almost identical to Reeva!
Reeva’s heartbroken mother June issued a stark warning to Rita when the news broke in South Africa, saying Oscar “still has a problem with anger”.
The 78-year-old says, “I don’t understand how she doesn’t see a red flag about him because he has not lost his temper problem. He’s still a danger to women.
“It’s not painful for me that he’s with this young woman – I’m just worried about her.”
Reeva was shot dead on Valentine’s Day in 2013 by Oscar. He has always insisted he killed his girlfriend by mistake, thinking she was an intruder.
After serving nearly nine years of his 13-year sentence, the star – nicknamed Blade Runner – is now on remand and living in a cottage on the grounds of his millionaire uncle’s mansion in Pretoria.
Grave concerns
Lookalike Rita, a 33-year-old business management consultant, is reportedly a family friend. She has been dating the 38-year-old killer for around three months.
Reeva’s sister has also expressed grave concerns for the farmer’s daughter, weeping when she learned the news.
Simone Cowburn says she felt “shivers” down her spine looking at photographs of Rita.
“She looks so much like my Reeva,” says Simone, 59. “She is the same build, the same face and hair, even the same eyes. I have to ask myself that having killed Reeva, did he want to replace her with another?”
Lost control
Simone also issued a stern public warning to Rita, reminding her that Oscar appeared “totally charming” when he first started dating Reeva. But then, “he changes and becomes more controlling”.
Simone continues, “He became very possessive and Reeva wanted out, but Oscar would not allow it. I will always be convinced she was the one who ended the relationship that night and he lost all control.”
Oscar, whose lower legs were amputated at 11 months old, is volunteering at a church after struggling to find employment due to his “toxic” reputation.
A source says, “He is trying to rebuild his life in a low-key way and is flying under the radar.”
