Joe Cocker says it’s okay to leave your hat on. And other items of clothing are deemed okay during sex too.
But no one said ever, ‘you can leave your socks on’, and with the research we’ve just learned about we’re wondering why not.
It was Love Island‘s Curtis wearing socks during “adult scenes” with fellow island resident Maura last week that prompted this story.
Understandably, the internet collectively gasped when everyone saw he never got round to taking his off.
But we’ve just found out that leaving your socks on during sex can actually increase your chances of having an orgasm.
Yes, that’s right; you read that correct. A study conducted at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands in 2016 used brain scans to find out what effect, if any, wearing socks has on your sexual experience.
They found that 50 per cent of participants (male and female) reached orgasm while not wearing socks, however 80 per cent climaxed when they were wearing a pair.
If you’re wondering how this could possibly be the researchers explained that wearing socks keeps your feet warm, which helps to dilate the blood vessels; in turn your overall blood flow improves.
Having warm feet will also improve the quality of sleep you have afterward. It’s a win-win.
Turns out Curtis was onto something after all.
