When The Edge shock jock Dominic Harvey stepped out for brunch with his mystery girlfriend recently, he almost didn’t make it home!
The loved-up duo – who started dating around six months after Dom’s shock split from wife and co-host Jay-Jay Feeney last August – enjoyed a leisurely breakfast in the posh Auckland suburb of Ponsonby, with Dom’s cute pooch Kanye in tow.
Later, as they were crossing the busy intersection, the flirty pair got distracted and just missed being collected by a passing car. “They got a hell of a fright,” a witness tells Woman’s Day. “Dom went into full protective mode, first making sure his girlfriend was safe and then the dog.”
Dom, 45, has told listeners a lot about his 32-year-old lady love, although he hasn’t named her.
“She’s upset with me for something I said on air the other day,” he shared recently.
“So last night I was home alone, just me and my dog, feeling quite lonely and vulnerable. I’m starting to realise that I’m actually quite hopeless at communicating and relationships.”
He also ‘fessed up that their age difference has been problematic, saying, “Younger people, they want to do stuff all the time. Like, you go out for dinner and after dinner she’s like, ‘Alright, what now?’ I’m like, ‘What do you mean what now? We’ve been out!'”
Clutching his ferocious guard dog for reinforcement, our hero leaps to the defence of his lovely lady as she steps into the street.
