Can I still use jars that previously contained pickled onions? I’ve cleaned them but they still smell of onions. Is there a way to get rid of the smell?

It’s difficult to remove the smell of pickled onions, which may linger, especially in the jar’s lid or seal. Pickling jars can be used again, but if the smell stays, only use these jars for savoury items such as chutney, not for sweet jams, as they may become tainted. Use the jars for storage of savoury items like pasta or rice.
