Rebel Wilson declares 2020 a ‘year of health’ and reveals her incredible weight loss transformation

''I'm going to do it!'' she has vowed.

Australian actress Rebel Wilson has declared 2020 “The Year of Health” and vowed to keep away from sugar and junk food.

Rebel posted an image of herself on social media exercising on the beach in active wear and captioned it: “Okay so for me 2020 is going to be called “The Year of Health” – so I put on the athleisure and went out for a walk, deliberately hydrating on the couch right now and trying to avoid the sugar and junk food which is going to be hard after the holidays I’ve just had but I’m going to do it!”

She invited her followers to join her, asking, “Who’s with me in making some positive changes this year?”

Her New Year’s resolution has sent the internet into overdrive, with many commenting in admiration on her new slimmed-down appearance.

“You’re looking amazing!,” commented one.

“I’m so proud of you!! you look fantastic already with your weight loss. No sugar and junk for wooh that would a hard one for me lol but I have faith in u,” said another.

Rebel’s cinched-in waist and finer features were also visibly noticeable at a fundraiser at the Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo on the Gold Coast this week where she raised $100,000 for the Bushfire Relief.

The Pitch Perfect and Bridesmaids star began focusing on her health last year, sharing glimpses of a new fitness regime on social media.

In a video posted on her Instagram page in August 2019, Rebel can be seen working out at a gym.

In the full body workout, Rebel did weight exercises, squats and lunges before finishing off with ab exercises.

She captioned the post: “Gotta keep up that stamina! Here’s a part of my gym workout today – I also did 60 minutes of cardio (which is boring to film) and stretching to end it all right x”

Rebel has previously revealed to Cosmopolitan that she is comfortable with her body type and that it helped her at the beginning of her career.

“Being unique and different was a really good thing,” she told the publication.

“I walked into my agent’s office for the first time, they looked at me and said, ‘Wow, we have nobody on our books like you’.

“And they signed me on my second day here…”

She admitted that she loves ice cream and dessert, and has always rewarded herself with food:

“When I have an incredibly stressful day, I want to celebrate and reward myself with food. If I’ve had a sad or stressful day, food is also comfort.

“You would probably describe it as emotional or stress-eating… eating is my one vice.”

However, she clearly enjoys the benefits of focusing on healthy eating and exercise too.

In 2016 Rebel celebrated an 8-pound (3.6kg) weight loss, after spending four days on a “marathon hiking” trip at fitness and wellness centre , The Ranch Malibu.

The popular star had followed The Ranch’s R4.0 programme, which involved eight hours of rigorous exercise per day, including four hours of mountain hiking in the morning, exercise classes in the afternoon and massages to help guests recover. Organic vegetarian cuisine was eaten during the four-day programme.

Rebel previously told E!, “It’s just about being comfortable in your own skin. You never want to be, like, too unhealthy because that’s bad. But you just want to be comfortable with who you are, whatever your size.”
