Whether it's quinoa or kale, there's no denying that superfoods are all the rage - and summer is a great time to switch up your habits and try a few new ones.
By definition, a superfood is meant to be low in calories and packed full of nutrients that are going to benefit your body, so there are plenty of reasons to consider giving them a try!
Here are three superfoods to try this summer:
1. Acai Berry
These dark purple berries are full of antioxidants, which help to fight the effects of free radical damage to the body. They're also a source of omega-3 fatty acids - the good kind.
Kimchi is a staple of Korean cuisine. Similar to the German delicacy sauerkraut, it is a fermented dish made using different types of vegetables, seasonings and spices. The fermentation process means it's full of 'friendly' bacteria that may be able to help with digestion.
Flaxseeds are a source of healthy omega-3 fats, copper, vitamin B1 and fibre and can be easily added to baking recipes by adding some ground flaxseeds to the mix.
