Supermodel, mother and founder of KORA Organics, Miranda Kerr, maintains the epitome of a healthy lifestyle.
Between exercising, creating her own organic skincare range and writing various self-empowerment books, Miranda lives and breathes all-things health and wellbeing.
Pregnant mum Miranda is as glowing and flawless as ever and, unbelievably, at roughly 8 months pregnant still looks as if she is ready to strut down a runway or grace a magazine cover.
So how does she do it?
The former Victoria’s Secret model revealed her beauty and wellness secrets to Glamour – and we think we could all take a page out of her beauty book when it comes to taking care of ourselves!
Skincare
Being the founder of one’s own skincare company can definitely help steer you in the right direction when it comes to knowing what’s good for your skin and what’s not.
Miranda is a firm champion for her KORA Organics products and uses them daily to ensure she has a healthy complexion.
“I wash my face with KORA Organics Foaming Cleanser, followed by the Energising Citrus Mist, Noni Radiant Eye Oil and my new obsession – Hydrating Moisturiser mixed with a couple drops of Noni Glow Face Oil for extra hydration,” says Miranda.
“In the evening I like to use the KORA Organics Cream Cleanser – and I double cleanse to ensure my make-up is all removed, followed by a calming lavender mist.”
Miranda, who is already mum to seven-year-old Flynn, relies on her Noni infused KORA Organics products to keep the stretch marks away.
A study on stretch marks conducted by the University of Michigan found that 50 to 90 per cent of women will form stretch marks during pregnancy. There are however, women who are at higher risk of developing them; family history, weight gained during pregnancy and past experiences with stretch marks are all factors that can cause the marks.
If you aren’t one of the lucky people who naturally won’t get stretch marks, then how can you prevent or minimise the visibility of them?
“I have my shower and apply a combination of Noni Glow Body Oil and the Noni Glow Body Balm all over, especially focusing on stretchmark-prone areas given I’m quite pregnant,” Miranda says. “I am very conscious of keeping my skin supple and moisturised throughout my pregnancy to minimise any stretch marks.”
Make-up
Although we think healthy skin is the most beautiful kind, there may be moments during pregnancy where some women feel they need that little bit of extra help to feel their best. Think: when you’re tired from lack of sleep or have a breakout from those pesky pregnancy hormones.
In these cases Miranda suggests using Noni Radiant Eye Oil which contains Kahai Oil that she is “absolutely obsessed with”. She says it’s “a natural retinol that helps improve elasticity and smooth fine lines.”
Miranda’s day-to-day make-up products focus on enhancing natural beauty, rather than attempting to cover it up. She uses the KORA Organics Tinted Day Cream, Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, RMS Mascara (just one coat), RMS Uncover UP in 22, KORA Organics Rose Quartz Luminizer on her cheekbones, brow bones, cupid bow and inner eye – to help create the illusion of wider, brighter eyes, and Dior Lip Glow.
Keeping fit and healthy
A study published in the BMC Medicine Journal suggests that healthy eating and increased physical activity during pregnancy can be associated with improved outcomes at the time of birth for both baby and mum.
Although most women should maintain a healthy, active lifestyle whether pregnant or not, there are additional benefits for those who exercise during pregnancy.
These benefits include “a reduced chance of moderate to severe respiratory distress syndrome and reduced length of stay in hospital” and potentially a reduced level of pain during delivery. Win, win.
Depending on the stage of pregnancy, the exercise that is recommended will vary. Given Miranda is almost at term with her pregnancy she chooses “gentle, low-impact exercises such as walking, yoga and pilates.”
She also added she doesn’t deprive herself of the odd rest day, which she enjoys.
