Jimmy D started off day three with an offsite show filled with androgynous looks, some sheer, some not, literally held together with chains and rings. Then came some fabulous pinstripe pieces finishing with a stunning silver metallic mac.

I always look forward to the Graduate Show to see the fresh talent about to hit the industry. My favourites included the survivalist inspired range from Thanushi Marage, the bold clashing stylings of Shannen Young, brightly coloured and layered designs by Tess Norquay and the bright pom pom embellishments from Laura Marris.

Stunning handmade pieces by Ovna Ovich walked a wet paint-splattered runway in muted colours with a Japanese modernism feel.

The highlight of the K’Road Presents installation were stunning pieces from rock’n’roll jeweller extraordinaire Nick Von K.

Kathryn Wilson marked her return to NZFW with a Come Fly With Me themed show with models wearing vintage inspired stewardess fashion while showcasing next winters footwear collection.

Stunningly crafted leather bags by Wellington based brand Yu Mei were hung from the ceiling for a installation that showcased all the fine detailing in these beautiful bags.

Wynn Hamlyn featured some lovely pieces with the standouts for me being a brown check velvet suit and a red rib dress. But it was the added accessories brought the collection to life with oversized visors, topstitched waist and neck pieces and a stunning rattan corset.

But the show of the day was a very special collection from Tanya Carlson to celebrate her 20th anniversary. Making one off pieces from her archive fabric library in soft feminine floral palette plus rich burgundies with a 90s hip hop influence. Layered and fringed, corseted obi belts and simply chic tearaway pants (styled by the fabulous Sarah Stuart) had the room giving the designer a standing ovation. Hollie Smith also performed live for the finale which was a beautiful touch and treat.

Day Three ended with the Safer Than Heaven collection from Stolen Girlfriends Club. The runway was set up around a black plastic wrapped cube and as the music started, slits were cut from the inside and models slid through them. Soft pinks, black and silver dominated the range with sheer, leather and shearling styles all in that classic SGC style.
