Self-tanning solutions

We have some self-tanning tips to get your skin ready for your summer wardrobe
Self-tanning tips and best products

With the weather heating up, it’s time to lose the winter layers.

If you’re anxious about showing off pale pins, here are some self-tanning solutions to give yourself a faux summer glow.

Self-tanning tips:

  1. Exfoliate 24 hours prior to applying self-tan with a flannel or gentle brush. Avoid any harsh abrasives.

  2. Apply a light layer of moisturiser to your elbows, knees and ankles to avoid product build-up.

  3. Use a glove for an even application and apply the product on to the glove not your body.

  4. For difficult to reach areas like your back, put your glove over a body brush and secure with a rubber band around the handle.

  5. Try not to rub the product in too hard as this can cause streaking.

  6. Don’t put tanning product on areas that don’t see the sun naturally, like armpits. Take care to blend into these areas instead.

  7. Overusing gradual tans can lead to a mottled effect from build-up. Be sure to exfoliate between applications.

  8. To keep your tan looking its best in the days after application, use a good body moisturiser or a specialty after-tan top-up.
