Primed to be pretty

There’s always a new, must-have product in the beauty world. These days, everywhere I turn I see foundation primers. So, what are they? What do they do? And, most importantly, do you need one?

Essentially, it’s the same principle as painting the house – you use a primer before applying the paint. Make-up primers work by creating a barrier between your skin and the foundation you wear. Their primary function is to even out your skin tone and texture – in some cases reducing redness – to provide a smooth base for your foundation.

The moisturising action in primers helps hydrate the skin. Primers give your foundation a smoother finish and hold it in place for a longer period of time. They also prevent the skin from absorbing talc and pigment from your foundation. Some contain botanical extracts to smooth and refresh the skin.

If you use a primer, you can achieve great results with your foundation. Primers are definitely worth it so pop down to your local beauty outlet and discuss purchasing one today.
