• From copper to strawberry blonde, red hair is the hottest thing right now, but isn’t for everyone – it depends on your skin tone. Cool is olive,
yellow-based or dark. Warm complexions have red in them, particularly in the cheeks or across the nose, plus a tendency to blush. Sit down in front a mirror in a good light and decide which one you are.
• If you’re warm, like actress Jessica Chastain (above), stay away from pinky colours such as burgundies and mahoganies – they’ll only highlight skin
redness. Stick to coppers and golden shades instead.
• Olive tones should steer clear of anything with too much gold. You’ll look good with gorgeous lowlights of chestnut or deep auburn.
• Very pale complexions are lucky – they suit any degree of red, from pale to vibrant.
FIGHT FADE
Beware – reds fade fast. Hold on to the colour vibrancy by shampooing less often and always use sulphate-free products. I like Pureology, which is designed to protect and maintain colour. Their Precious Oils range is my pick.
INSIDER TIP
Grey roots showing through? Temporarily blend them away by dusting a little bronzer with a brush, being careful not to stain the scalp.
