They rued their grand finale dessert fail, naming it as the one dish they’d do over again, but it wasn’t enough to knock Chris and Bex off the winners perch.

The Wanaka pair woke up $100,000 richer this morning after edging out Heather and Mitch to take the coveted title of My Kitchen Rules NZ 2017 winners.

Chris and Bex react after being named the 2017 MKR NZ champions.

After a busy morning filled with publicity commitments, the newly crowned winners sat down with the Now to Love team and couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces.

Despite the change in their relationship (the married pair split after filming) Bex said “we couldn’t be prouder of each other.”

Chris and Bex fought it out against Heather and Mitch in last night’s finale.

For Chris, the highlight of being on the show was pushing themselves. “It was amazing how hard we worked for victory.”

They had a message for anyone thinking about applying for the next season of MKR: “Do it – don’t think about it,” said Bex “just enter and practice your hearts out.”

“Be true to yourself and work hard” added Chris. “Nice guys can win.”

If you’re thinking about entering you’d better be quick – applications for the 2018 season close this Friday 1st December.
