Cath Collins isn’t just back in the MasterChef Australia kitchen – she’s back with purpose!
Since placing fifth in season 15 in 2023, the Melbourne mum has transformed her passion for food into a lifestyle, launching Cath’s Kitchen, where she runs inclusive cooking classes for disabled people that are aimed at “spreading the joy of cooking to anyone and everyone”.
Her mission became deeply personal after Cath, 56, realised she connected with her daughter, who is on the autism spectrum, through food. “For me, that was a natural pathway,” she says.
Returning for season 17, Cath describes herself as “a wiser, calmer cook” who is finally ready to soak up the experience. “I put too much pressure on myself last time,” she recalls. “This time, I’m just going in to meet all the other contestants, learn from them and hang out.”

With big-name celebrity guest judges such as Gordon, the heat is on from the very first challenge, but Cath knows pressure better than most.
“There’s no time to think – you’re just doing,” she explains. “I remember screaming at Gordon and afterwards thinking, ‘Oh, my God, you screamed at Gordon Ramsay!’”
MasterChef Australia: Back To Win screens 7.30pm Monday to Wednesday on TVNZ 2 and streams on TVNZ+.
