Dunedin groom Dave McLelland isn’t embarrassed by how long he takes in the bathroom every morning. “I’ll own the metrosexual side of things because that’s who I am,” the entrepreneur says.
However, he bristles at his bride Julia Malley’s use of the word “feminine”, saying, “In all honesty, I take about 10 minutes – her routine is much longer than mine!”
The secret to the 44-year-old’s youthful looks is a blend of bee venom and manuka honey that he developed himself.
Dave says, “I was in the honey industry for many years. There was nothing for women that was completely natural. I sold the brand, but I still use it. Now I’m selling espresso martinis, which are also good for the skin!”
Of 32-year-old Julia’s confession that she’s not attracted to him, Dave insists, “Obviously, attraction is a big thing, but I can’t force it. I need her to take her time and deal with it. I hope there’s a change in her mindset.”
Sadly, for Dave, it wasn’t meant to be, and he and Julia called time on their marriage at the vow renewal.
