Married At First Sight‘s Carly Bowyer has lashed out at MAFS season four groom Nick Furphy after she says he fueled rumours that the two were in a relationship by posting a suggestive photo to Instagram.
Speaking to NW magazine, Carly was determined to set the record straight.
“I am not and will not ever date Nick Furphy,” she stressed.
Carly added: “His Instagram story was a joke and an attempt at stirring the pot, but I do not find it funny whatsoever given it’s at mine and Troy’s expense.”
On Wednesday Nick uploaded a photo of himself and Carly to Instagram stories, sparking further speculation that the pair were dating.
MAFS Season Four groom Nick Furphy uploaded this image to Instagram, which Carly claims adds to the rumours that they’re dating.
“I’m furious that people think this is a game that they can make gains from,” Carly told NW.
“There are real people and real emotions involved. I’m sorry to Troy who had to see any of this, particularly in already tough circumstances.”
Carly had previously uploaded this photo of her and Nick to Instagram in March.
Her denial has come just days after she and Troy Demelge announced they had broken up after 9 months together.
Their pairing caused no end of trouble on the show after they debuted their new relationship at the final dinner party.
Carly, who was originally paired with millionaire Justin Fischer, and Troy, who was matched with flight attendant Ashley Irvine, were the couple we never saw coming. They faced constant speculation that their relationship was just for show. Yet the two have seemingly ended things on great terms.
Married At First Sight’s Carly and Troy announced their split last week.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I tell you that Troy and I have decided to part ways,” Carly wrote in a lengthy Instagram post announcing the break-up.
“9 months ago, we threw ourselves head first into a relationship, that despite all odds, felt like it was destined to be. We fell in love and experienced some of the most real and amazing moments together that I will never forget.
“We wanted this more than anything and have fought for each other to the end so it’s heartbreaking that we’ve had to make the incredibly difficult decision that our lives no longer align and we are unable to make this work.
“Troy, my darling, you are something special. You’re my best friend and I will always be here for you. It’s the end of this chapter but it’s not goodbye.”
Troy followed it up with a post of his own.
“Dear fans, it is with great sadness I want to let you know that Carly and I have decided to go our separate ways… I am so so sorry it hasn’t worked out… This is a very painful situation…
“We’ve had an incredible 9 months together and it hurts to walk away from … I knew way back when we met at the first dinner party that Carly was a special girl. She captured my heart in so many ways… She was my rock during the experiment and has been ever since… I’ll treasure the memories forever… Carly, I wish you all the happiness in the world. Xx”
