You’d think Haydn Wise would have needed a break after filming finished on The Block Australia, but this contestant has been busy – just weeks after introducing their firstborn baby girl to the world, he and his wife Chelsea are ready to announce they’re expecting baby number two!
“Within the first month of Haydn returning home, it happened,” laughs Chelsea, who is due on 29 March. “Everyone’s a little bit shocked, but Haydn and I were kept apart with The Block for so long, so the reunion was just lovely!”
“It was after another Ricky party,” adds Haydn, 37, joking about his Block bestie Ricky Recard. “You’ve got to be well protected when going to one!”
After a nine-year struggle with IVF, the pair had decided to give up on having a family, before Chelsea fell pregnant with daughter Matilda, who was born in March 2024.
“We didn’t expect it to happen so quickly, given our previous struggles. However, we’d heard it can happen quite quickly after the first one,” says Chelsea. She adds that Tilly might become a big sister before her first birthday.

“We’re very excited. Obviously, we waited a long time for Tilly, so we’re just overjoyed and thrilled. We’re not young. We’ve wasted a lot of time and money trying to have Tils, but we just really feel so blessed.”
Grins Haydn, “It’s hard to look a gift horse in the mouth, so I’m pumped. We’re having a little boy, so we’ll be getting a pigeon pair!”
The Melbourne IT worker admits it was “an adjustment” leaving The Block. “But it was a welcome one because I got to spend time with the family. Even though I was straight back into work, coming home every night and spending that time with them, with bottles, nappies, feeds and couch time, has been pretty cool.”
Haydn’s been spending some of that couch time, of course, watching himself on The Block.
“I’m happy with my edit,” he beams. “I look pretty clapped-out after a couple of all-nighters. I also get talked over a lot by Ricky, but that’s usual for me. The only thing it’s been sad to see is the girls’ journey at the start. Maddy and Charlotte copped it rough.”

Despite it being Chelsea who unearthed the video revealing sisters Maddy and Charlotte Harry are professional house flippers, she insists there’s “no bad blood” and that it “wasn’t malicious” at all.
She explains, “There was information out there and I found it. It was important for Haydn and the other contestants to know. What is sad is that the girls have gone in wanting to play a social game and are just very upset about the relationships being made.”
The couple admit they’ve been reading online opinions about The Block. Hadyn says, “It’s interesting to see how people get so heavily invested in it. It’s like they know more than us sometimes.”
“It’s shocked us a little bit,” Chelsea agrees – although not as much as learning they’re about to become a family of four!
“Two little miracle babies. Who would have thought?” smiles Haydn, adding that the only way life could get any better is if he and Ricky make some serious cash on auction day.
“Fingers crossed!” Chelsea says. “We actually need to win now!”
The Block Australia screens 7pm Sunday to Wednesday on Three and streams on ThreeNow.
