The X-Files will be coming back to television with six brand new episodes!

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have both signed on to reprise their iconic roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, with filming due to begin shortly.

The new episodes will be produced by Fox, with an air date yet to be announced. The show’s creator, Chris Carter, will also be behind the new limited series.

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” he said in a statement.

“The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

The X-Files was hugely popular during its nine-season run, earning 16 Emmy Awards, 5 Golden Globes and spawning two films. The last time fans saw Mulder and Scully onscreen was in 2008’s The X-Files: I Want to Believe, so they’ve been waiting a long time for this revival! We can’t wait to see what new paranormal activities the duo will uncover.
