Dancing with the Stars Week 3: Sunday recap

On Sunday night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars NZ, the contestants threw themselves into the challenge of Latin Night!

This meant rumbas, sambas and cha-chas galore as the celebrities battled to keep themselves safe for another round.

This week, there was a new leader on the scoreboard as Shortland Street’s Teuila Blakely breezed past Simon Barnett and Siobhan Marshall to take the top spot! She and partner Scott Cole impressed with their slow and sensual rumba to Ed Sheeran’s hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’.

Simon Barnett and Siobhan Marshall both continued their streak of solid performances – Simon with another rumba and Siobhan with a sprightly samba.

Chrystal Chenery and partner Jonny Williams pulled off a fiery paso doble that helped them gain third place in the rankings, while Shane Cameron and Nerida Cortese performed a fast-paced jive that also got them high marks.

At the other end of the scoreboard, Pam Corkery and Matt Tatton-Brown unfortunately failed to wow with their samba to ‘Hey Baby’. Ben Barrington placed just a few points ahead with his cha-cha, and Jay-Jay Harvey unfortunately had a slip-up with the ‘Snake’ move at the very end of her rumba.

Third week scores:

  1. Teuila Blakely & Scott Cole (25)

  2. Simon Barnett & Vanessa Cole, tied with Siobhan Marshall & Charlie Billington (24)

  3. Chrystal Chenery & Jonny Williams (22)

  4. Shane Cameron & Nerida Cortese (20)

  5. Colin Mathura-Jeffree & Kristie Williams (19)

  6. Jay-Jay Harvey & Enrique Johns (18)

  7. Ben Barrington & Krystal Stuart (15)

  8. Pam Corkery & Matt Tatton-Brown (12)
