Meet the Celebrity Treasure Island cast of 2024

Aidee Walker, 43

Outrageous Fortune and One Lane Bridge actress

What role will you take on in camp?

I feel like if I don’t pull a muscle, then I might be good at the scrappy kind of runs and, like, you know, downs and ups. I’m sort of picturing, like, sprinting and getting stuff, then sprinting back. But then also maybe the puzzles.

What will annoy your fellow islanders?

I do tend to spread my s**t out a lot!

Wairangi Koopu, 44

Former Warrior

What will annoy your fellow islanders?

I’m a little bit of a whakaputa mōhio, a bit of a know-it-all, so I do have to dial it down a little bit. I’m also a little bit of a perfectionist, which can be a good thing and sometimes can be a little bit annoying.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve packed?

I bought lots of hats, for various occasions, various climates. There are a couple of beanies, a couple of flax hats, some bucket hats… I think I overpacked on the hats. There’s an array of hats.

Vinnie Woolston, 39

International model

What do you think your greatest strength will be?

Being able to get along with everyone. I’d say that’d be an asset. To not get rubbed the wrong way, just take it as it comes and not take anything too much to heart.

Who will you miss most?

I’ll be missing my daughters. I’ve got three daughters – Mickey, Ramona and also Elvira. I’m starting to tear up now. Happy tears.

Tāmati Coffey, 44

Ex-politician & broadcaster

Does your prior TV experience give you an advantage?

Yeah, inevitably. I know how cameras work, I know that the microphone’s always on and also that the camera can be in your face quite a bit. But I actually think that politics is probably the thing that will help me through this particular experiment – the ability to be able to talk to people.

How will you cope without your creature comforts?

I’m not too hot on rice and beans, but if it’s all we’ve got, I’m sure that I’ll close my eyes and think of a beautiful lasagne!

Suzanne Paul, 66

Infomercial queen

You’ve done Treasure Island before?

Yes! In 2003, so 20 odd years ago. I was, of course, much younger then and it was really hard. It was really difficult, but I did learn a lot about myself and made some great friends. I just thought it was time to do it again.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve packed?

I have a massive big suitcase and overpacked. I brought everything! So it was more about what could I not bring. My team all think it’s hilarious that I’ve brought hairspray!

Spankie Jackzon, 39

RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under star

What role do you think you’ll take on in camp?

Oh, I think I’m just going to be camp full stop. Like, I mean, I think I could be a secret leader. The thing is, I ran a childcare and I’m also super-fair. I ran a team of about 10 people, plus I work in clubs and stuff, so I work with teams all the time.

What do you think your greatest strength will be?

I was swim champ at school, I’m super-flexible, I’m super-tall and I can also cook!

Millen Baird, 51

The Almighty Johnsons actor

What do you think your greatest strength will be?

Hopefully a sense of humour. Maybe compliments to these guys, encouragement and just a bit of support. I mean, it’s a pretty daunting prospect being surrounded by people like this. So I can offload a bad dad joke when needed. Yeah, I just want to make friends.

What will annoy your fellow islanders?

I snore. I sound like a walrus being jabbed with a hot poker.

Duncan on Celebrity Treasure Island

Duncan Garner, 50

Broadcaster

What do you think your greatest strength will be?

I like to consider myself empathetic. Being on talk radio, you hear a lot of people’s problems and I try to get back to every email.

If you could choose anybody, dead or alive, to have this experience with, who would it be?

My father. How could I not say my dad? He’s the one guy that I miss the most. If I could get him back here, he’d just shake his head. “What the hell have you got me back into this for?!”

James on Celebrity Treasure Island

James Rolleston, 27

Boy actor

How do you think you’ll cope without your creature comforts?

I think I’ll be OK. I’ve done a bit of camping growing up, staying up in the bush, done a little bit of that, so I’m a bit familiar with sleeping under the stars. I don’t think it’s going to be too much of an issue for me.

What will annoy your fellow islanders?

Probably my snoring. There might be a chainsaw or two going off in the wee hours of the morning.

Gaby on Celebrity Treasure Island

Gaby Solomona, 33

Baby Mama’s Club actress

What role do you think you’ll take on in camp?

I’m usually a bit of a class clown in every job I’ve been in, so I feel like I’ll be the morale booster. I can’t do puzzles, but I can boost the morale. I’ll sing you a song. I can’t sing, but that’s fine.

How do you think you’ll cope without your creature comforts?

The thing I’m most scared of is the starving bit, and just eating rice and beans.

Janaye on Celebrity Treasure Island

Janaye Henry, 27

Comedian

Who or what do you think you’ll miss the most?

I’ll miss my family the most, for sure. But tangible things. A pillow, I reckon, will be pretty major and also hot chips. I love hot chips.

Who would your dream castaway be?

I’m obsessed with Rachel House. I’ve never met her, but she’s so great and so funny. I think we’d have great night-time chats.

JP on Celebrity Treasure Island

JP Foliaki, 30

Far North actor

Who or what will you miss most?

I’m going to miss my grandma probably the most. I spend a lot of time with her – we go for drives and go have feeds.

Did you know any of your teammates before coming to the island?

I know Bubbah – she’s from the hood. I’m keen to have her back in this game. I’m just keen to keep it under wraps as to how well we know each other.

Mea on Celebrity Treasure Island

Mea Motu, 34

Boxing champ

What do you think your greatest strength will be?

I like to push my body to a whole other boundary, where it’s really uncomfortable, and really push and give it 110%.

Who or what will you miss the most?

I will miss my five kids. But what makes it all sad is that my two babies are turning four and five. So while I’m away, I’m going to miss their birthdays, but I know they’ll be OK. My children are my strength.

Michelle Langstone, 45

McLeod’s Daughters actress

What do you think your greatest strength will be?

I don’t know yet. I’m quite a malleable person, so I can move wherever I need to be. But honestly, probably enthusiasm.

How will you cope without your creature comforts?

I grew up on boats and camping. I love camping. I’m very happy to descend into a level of filth and just not care. I know I will get hungry because I do eat an extraordinary amount and I always have. But fortunately, I’m vegetarian, so beans and rice sound fine to me.

Christian on Celebrity Treasure Island

Christian Cullen, 48

All Blacks legend

What do you think your greatest strength will be?

Hopefully anything physical! I’m good at swimming, I’m quite a calm, relaxed person and I don’t get overexcited.

Did you know any of your current teammates before coming here?

Oh, probably a lot of people you see on TV, you feel like you know them, right? I mean, Tāmati, you kind of know because of TV and weather, and Suzanne Paul was the first one I saw. Well, I didn’t see – I actually heard her voice first!

Casey on Celebrity Treasure Island

Casey Kopua, 39

Silver Ferns star

Who or what will you miss most while you’re away?

I’ll miss my kids and also my husband. But it’ll probably be First World problems of a toilet, a shower and food. I love food.

What do you think your greatest strength will be?

I’m used to being part of a team and I’m good at getting everybody together – even if they’re not always happy!

Carmel on Celebrity Treasure Island

Carmel Sepuloni, 47

Former Deputy Prime Minister

What sort of role do you think you’ll take on in camp?

Based on my age and the ages of the other camp members, I think I might be a little bit of a camp mother.

What will annoy your fellow islanders?

I don’t think I’ve got any annoying habits. It doesn’t help with Duncan Garner being here because we end up talking about politics quite a lot and that can annoy people generally.

Bubbah on Celebrity Treasure Island

Bubbah, 28

Comedian, aka Tina from Turners

You went to extreme lengths on Taskmaster to win a task. What could we see from you on CTI?

I want to be the first female winner. No pressure! I surprised myself on Taskmaster. I’m like fight or flight, so I need something to happen and then I just punch first, look later.

How do you feel about having to eat rice and beans?

I’m not scared of the rice and beans. However, I am scared of the portions. I’m a triple cheeseburger, Big Mac and large fries, as well as a six-pack of nuggets kind of person.

Celebrity Treasure Island is coming soon to TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+.
