Offspring fans can rest easy, because leading lady Asher Keddie has confirmed the good news that the beloved show will be coming back for a seventh season in 2017.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Asher said: “As always, it’s great to be back for another season of Offspring. It’s the gift that keeps on giving, and I’m looking forward to the madness of it all once again.”

Beverley McGarvey, the program chief at Australia’s Channel Ten, said they were thrilled about Asher and the show’s return and they intended “to bring back as many of the main cast as possible”.

The news follows months of speculation about the hit show’s fate.

In the dramatic season six finale, viewers watched as Asher’s character Nina Proudman made the painful decision to move on from the tragic death of her late partner Patrick (Matthew Le Nevez), choosing not to have another child using his sperm.

Offspring has been a firm favourite with audiences in both Australia and New Zealand since it started airing in 2010, with Asher picking up plenty of TV awards for her work along the way.

It’s been a rollercoaster journey for the show, which was cancelled after five seasons only to be brought back in 2016 after a successful fan petition.

And with the news that a seventh season is on the way, fans can rest assured there’ll be more to come for the Proudman family!
