Amy and Stu win The Block NZ – take a tour of their million dollar home

Gisbourne couple Amy and Stu are crowned the winners of The Block NZ 2018 taking home an impressive $169,500 prize. We take a closer look at their winning home.

Twelve weeks of DIY and drama came to an exciting close with Amy Moore and Stu Watts being crowned as the winners of The Block NZ 2018.

The fast-paced auction was nerve-wracking for the contestants as they watched the auctioneers from Ray White Real Estate working hard to push the bidding along. All the townhouses sold for over $900,000 but Amy and Stu’s house was the only property to hit the million dollar mark.

Over the course of the competition, Amy and Stu made Block NZ history racking up seven room reveal wins thanks to their skilful knack for creating stylish spaces. Their impeccably styled home no doubt helped to sway the bidders and the Gizzy duo sold their the sun-soaked corner site for $1,009,50 – giving them a winning profit of $69,500 plus $100,000 cash prize.

Amy and Stu were also named the winners of the prestigious People’s Choice Award, decided by public vote, and receive a brand new Suzuki S-Cross Prestige.

Amy said: “Thank you New Zealand – right back at you! We couldn’t have done it without you and we are so incredibly grateful for all your support.” Stu added: “Thank you Suzuki and New Zealand – proud to be representing Gizzy Hard!”

The Results

Claire & Agni: house one – $30,000 profit (sold for $950,000)

Ben & Tom: house two – $57,000 profit (sold for $987,000)

Chlo & Em: house three – $11,500 profit (sold for $921,500)

Amy & Stu: house four – $69,500 profit (sold for $1,009,500)

Amy and Stu’s kids room was a fun and playful space for a little girl.

The judges thought the loft space in Amy and Stu’s kids room took the room to the next level and loved how to could also be used as storage.

The master en-suite was also another stand out space with its statement tiles, timber front vanity and thoughtful accessories.

The judges loved the use of mottled glass for the shower. It creates privacy and also helps to bounce the light around the space.

The judges loved Amy and Stu’s room saying it was fresh and beautifully accessorised.

The master bedroom is a calming space.

More yellow accents feature in the family bathroom.

The judges loved the mosaic feature wall.

The judges were once again impressed by Amy and Stu’s ability to create a unique and stylish space.

In the main lounge, caramel colours the walls.

Although the walls in the master bedroom are Resene Rice Cake, Amy and Stu’s signature colour still comes through in the curtains.

Amy and Stu’s patio space made room for both dining and entertaining.

A smaller lounge and extra storage space also sits to the side of the kitchen.

The sunshine yellow tiles also feature in the butlers pantry behind the kitchen.

The dining room leads off from the kitchen.

A pastel, abstract artwork sits at the bottom of the staircase leading up to Amy and Stu’s kitchen, living and dining space.

The stairwell leading up to the top floor has plenty of natural light thanks to the three skylights above it.

Their guest bedroom was themed “desert chic”. The judges thought they had nailed the brief.

Amy chose a bold wallpaper for the powder room, which the judges loved.

Judge Jason Bonham loved the choice of tiles in Amy and Stu’s laundry.

The judges thought the layout of Amy and Stu’s laundry was perfect.

Amy and Stu’s entrance and powder room came out on top. The judges loved the polished plaster on the walls and their choice of tiles.

Judges Jason Bonham and Kristina Rapley loved the tiles Amy and Stu chose for their entrance. They said it worked perfectly with the textured plaster walls.
