Princess Eugenie is never one to disappoint when it comes to posting on Instagram.
Further down the line of succession than some of her cousins, she has more free rein over how personal her posts are, often adding a bunch of emojis and Throwback Thursday posts featuring her and her older sister, Princess Beatrice.
And while her latest Instagram post doesn’t feature her older sister, she might as well have, according to some of Eugenie’s followers who noticed a striking resemblance between Beatrice and another very important royal.
To mark the birthday of her four-times-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, Eugenie took to Instagram posting a portrait of the young Queen by Franz Xavier Winterhalter alongside the caption: “Today marks the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria (1805-1901).
“She reigned for almost 64 years and I’m very proud to be named after her,” the 29-year-old wrote, whose full name is Eugenie Victoria Helena.
And it was this portrait that has eagle-eyed followers comparing the young Queen to Eugenie’s sister Princess Beatrice, discovering there’s a striking resemblance between the two royals.
“Princess Beatrice looks a lot like Queen Victoria,” one follower commented.
“Princess Beatrice looks very much like queen victoria..same eyes and pout…” another wrote.
And, we’ve got to say, they do have a point!

Princess Eugenie’s post also divulged some surprising news to many fans who hadn’t realised that Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, had produced the 2009 film The Young Victoria, which portrayed the revered monarch.
Accompanying Queen Victoria’s portrait, Eugenie also shared a still from the film, which featured Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend, in the carousel post writing, “The second [image] is of Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend, who played Victoria and Albert in The Young Victoria (2009) – film produced by @sarahferguson15.”
The revelation was met with delighted responses from her followers, “I had no idea your wonderful mother produced this film,” one follower wrote.
“It’s one of my favourites. She’s very gifted!”
Just last week Princess Eugenie stepped out to attend a presentation of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards with her aunt and uncle, Prince Edward and Sophie, The Countess of Wessex.
Prince Andrew’s youngest daughter opted for a blue and peach-hued ombre gown for the engagement, designed by none other than her wedding dress designer, Peter Pilotto.
