Princess Beatrice wrote a sweet poem to her dear friend Ellie Goulding, which was revealed on TV on Saturday during the singer’s appearance on the BBC comedy show Michael McIntyre’s Big Show.

In a segment of the show called “Text To All” Ellie bravely handed over her phone to the show’s host, who sent a message to all the contacts in her phone pretending to be her.

“This might sound a bit weird but I’m writing a song all about you,” Michael texted Ellie’s contacts.

“I’d love some help with the lyrics. What do you remember about that unforgettable moment?

“And if you can make it rhyme even better. Hurry! I’m in the studio right now and my creative juices are flowing lol,” he wrote, ending it with an “x”.

Meanwhile, Ellie looked on nervously from her seat on the balcony of the London Palladium next to her husband Caspar Jopling – the couple tied the knot in August where Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were guests.

After reading out an incredibly heartfelt reply from Ellie’s father-in-law Nicholas, Michael asked Ellie: “Who is Beatrice?”

To which Ellie replied, “She’s a very good friend of ours.”

“She’s not in the Royal Family?” Michael asks her.

“Uhm… yeah,” she said sheepishly.

Michael then read out Princess Beatrice’s text: “My dearest friend I love so dearly. I feel so lucky, I adore this girl so clearly.

“From wedding chats to Saturday evening, I adore this lady with every feeling. There truly isn’t a time that our friendship could equal a rhyme.”

Following the broadcast Ellie took to Instagram to show just how embarrassed she’d been during the show, posting 12 images of her different expressions during the show, writing: “Which one are you today? I’m 11,” which is the photo of her with her head in her hands.

The Grammy-nominee is known to be close friends with a number of members of the royal family in including the two York sisters and Prince Harry – who she was rumoured to have dated. She attended both Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s wedding in May last year as well as Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank last October.

In 2011 she also performed her version on Sir Elton John’s Your Song for Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s first dance at their royal wedding, which she later described as being a nervewracking experience.

“I was so nervous my hands were shaking,” she previously told Vanity Fair.

Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice announced her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in September, with the wedding set for 2020 and while no exact date has yet been announced, according to the Daily Mail, the couple will be announcing their wedding date in January.
